Panasonic has announced the LUMIX DMC-S2, the latest addition to its compact, affordable S-series cameras. It features a 14.1 megapixel CCD image sensor capture light through a 28mm wide angle lens with a 4x optical zoom. Panasonic's digital Intelligent Zoom doubles that capability to 8x. The Venus Engine image processor enables quick "Sonic Speed" Auto Focus as well as Intelligent Auto modes for those who would rather let the camera choose optimal settings. The good news is that you get built-in Optical Image Stabilization, ISO controls, scene selector for different shooting conditions, and face detection.
The Lumix DMC-S2 is a low-cost camera that has a limited set of features, but our preliminary look at this camera at CES shows that it offers the features that most casual shooters will need.!
